Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Since I'll be too busy tanking to post on the blog, I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year now.  May the RNG gods guide your shells or Stalin, whom ever you should pray to.  May Wargaming share a wealth of gold and discounts for tanks of all tiers.  AND may all have a silent night with no artillery in sight.  Stay frosty fellow tankers.

Warm up the Guns

Now that all the final and projects are done, there should not be much time now for the gun barrels to cool down as preparation for the holidays approaches.  For Christmas and the New Year, World of Tanks will be having lots of specials and discounts on in game items.  Perhaps even gifts of gold to players.  Oh, now that would be nice.  If you are unaware... Gold is the currency that costs really money to get in the game.  There are only a few ways to get it without spending real money for it and it has coined the term for some players as Wallet Warriors as they fight by spending money on the free game.  No pun intended.  As such, I am busy researching the current tanks I have and then selling the tank once the next one down the line is researched.  Once the tanks receive the holiday discount, I'll fill up my garage with brand new stock tanks that should end up being annoying to drive for a while until I get some upgrades on them.  One of the main tanks I am going to shoot for this winter is the WT auf. E100.  I am currently on the WT auf Pz. IV which is the tier 9 of the one German Tank Destroyer line.  After about 100,000 more experience, I'll have the Waffentrager auf E100 which simply has the name of Waffle.  It has an auto-loading magazine that has 5 shells allowing it to dish out 2000-3000 damage in less than a minute.

9.5 Update

WOW...  That's about all I can say.  This update is going to be great.  Not only will the game get a new map, it is also getting a whole new line of British tanks.   This is very impressive since the British tanks have not had anything new for over a year now.  Above all else, it is a new Tank Destroyer line that they are getting.  So, these will be my kind of tanks.  Especially to have another option that is very similar to the FV215b 183.  Oh, and do not forget about personal missions.  Missions that will be customized to each player based on the tanks they own.  That will be awesome.  I can't wait for this update to go live.

See the update here:

M4 Sherman

This weekend's events are revolved around the American medium tanks.  Although I am busy working on the S-51, I may need to see about getting myself a M4A3E2 Sherman to get in on the event.  I'm not a huge fan of the tank lines that they are on leading to the tier ten medium and heavy for the US.  However, there are a few tanks along the way that I wouldn't mind playing.  Also, popular movies and TV series have used the Sherman tanks recently.  Fury is an excellent example.  Unfortunately I have not yet seen Fury.  The Walking Dead uses a Sherman tank during the mid-season of Season 4 when the prison is assulted.

On Track to the Object 261

For the past two weeks now, the on track event has been going on for the Object 261 which is a Soviet artillery.  I have been scrambling to try and get on track with this event because this SPG has a really great gun on it.  In order to get on track, I raced through the grind on the KV-2 which is a Heavy Tank.  Yes, this artillery partially comes as a successor to a heavy line.  Currently, I have the tier seven S-51.  I'm still 40,000 experience from getting out of the stock gun and it seems to be a very slow grind.  The S-51's gun arc is more like a shotgun pass in football compared with other artillery which have a higher arc such as the US and British artillery that I have played.  So, the S-51 has come as a challenge to me as I have not been used to the inaccuracy of the Soviet guns.  Most of the time when it misses, it seems to go long which is extremely odd since it seems to come down at such an acute angle.  I can literally imagine the shell just passing right over the tank each miss.  As the grind is slow, I do not expect to get anywhere near the tier 8 arty as I would need well over 100,000 experience beyond the top gun.  So, I will be figuring out how to improve my performance with this tank through the rest of the week.

Happy Tanksgiving

Tanksgiving is a holiday proudly celebrated by all war-gamers.  World of Tanks has provided its players with thanks by granting x5 BONUS experience for the first win.  In addition, all tanks, equipment, consumables, and garage slots are reduced as much as 50% of their original cost.  I have already taken advantage of this by dropping millions of hard earned credits into equipment for my vehicles. Enjoy your turkey and make sure to save room for pie!

British Invasion Weekend

This weekend is all about the British tanks.  Both playing them and destroying them will count towards special missions.  I've taken this opportunity to advance down the British Tank Destroyer line towards the FV215b 183.  Currently, I am on the tier seven AT7 as seen in the image below.  The only thing going for it is a good penetration value and high rate of fire.  Other than that, I can not wait to be rid of this tank.  No prototypes were ever made in real life.  The engineer who decided to put the main gun on one side of the tank did not know what he was thinking at all.  Especially leaving that big, weak dome on top for the commander to sit in.

I wanted to add a video of the AT7 from the line of videos; however, this seems more appropriate.
The FV215b 183's potential:

MeltyMaps' Math Mod

Today, I have decided to try something new.  I have downloaded a mod for the game which will allow me to have more information on my HUD.  Attached is a video about the mod if you would like to view and listen about it.  However, the picture below pretty much explains it all.  This mod calculates the amount of penetration the gun has compared to the armor value you are aiming at to help make the shots count and do damage instead of bouncing.  It also has a handy thing at the bottom of the screen that shows the likelihood of your own tank to bounce a shot.  So, it not only helps you to damage enemies but also allows you to prevent your own tank from being damaged.  What you see is what you get though since it is one big package.  I would need to play around with the mod to determine if I can customize it.  Until then, I'll have plenty of battles to see how I like it and/or get used to it.

Which One is Better?

This is a question that has been on my mind a lot recently; which one is the better tank?  Both of the tanks have the highest shell damage in the game.  With that being said, they also have one of the longest reload times.  The FV215b 183 appeals to me more I would say because it has a turret that allows it to turn the gun to some degree and remain in full camo while the JP E100 would require it to turn the whole tank to move the gun almost any other direction but forward.  The JP E100 does however have the higher HP and higher hull armor to allow it to last longer in a brawl.  I am about the same distance along both tech trees since I have not been able to decide one over the other.  If you would, please comment and cast your vote as to which tank you feel is better and explain your reasoning.

The FV215b 183 is one of the first ones in the video, enjoy.

Veterans

This blog has not had that many followers or comments on it perhaps because it is a game that does not meet what everyone expects for from a game.  Lots of people were out recently to buy the next remake of the popular Call of Duty game.  I liked those sorts of games once and still have many; however, after Modern Warfare 2, I feel they lost any real chance of being called a good game again.  They will go on to create many more games over the years while Wargaming which makes World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and World of Warships will continue to improve upon their current games and will continue to remain free to its players.  This is not an attempt to sway your opinion about what makes a good game or one better than another.  This is an eye opener to the quality of Wargaming as a company.

Wargaming gives some of its profits to veterans' causes and historical preservation.  Veteran’s Day happened just this past week on Tuesday in the U.S.—Wargaming executives were at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii for the dedication of the new Shrine Room Wall at the USS Arizona Memorial. Wargaming worked with Amvets, a veterans support group, to raise more than $350,000 for the restoration, which cost $750,000.

The version of World of Tanks for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console has attracted more than 3.5 million gamers; the mobile version of the game has 8 million players. Across its portfolio, Wargaming has 110 million registered users, making it one of the most successful game publishers in the world. It has 3,600 employees and 16 offices worldwide, with plans to expand into Latin America. It’s estimated to finish this year with revenues of at least $400 million, according to the market research firm Superdata, and as much as $550 million, according to Newzoo’s Warman.

This is good news for the war monuments that stand to benefit from the developer’s success.

Veteran's Day Weekend

By completing all of the special Veteran's Day weekend missions, players receive three days of premium time.  Although the on track event is still going on, I have already completed it and got the SU100Y.  So, I have been working on other tanks to make the grind faster with the premium.  Enjoy this weekend and give thanks to those who have served to provide us with our freedom.

He He, I got It

Finally done with the grind of the T30 and have successfully bought the T110E4.  Check it out in my garage decked out with camouflage already.  Also, enjoy the garage's Halloween theme.  Second tier ten for me and now to enjoy training my crew of the T110E4 during the rest of the week when I'm not doing school work.  The SU100Y will be soon to follow as I only have about 35,000 experience to go on that mission.

Too busy Tanking

This is a little late cause I have been busy on track to the T110E4.  I have a little over 30,000 experience to grind through on my T30 and it should not take me much more than a day since I have earned premium time from one of the special missions available for Halloween.  Don't really have too much to say at the moment since I need to get back on track.  Enjoy the following pictures and video:

On Track to the T110E4

Those of you who were following the blog's posts from two weeks ago are probably confused right about now.  Yesterday, the event began for the T110E4 which is different from the T110E3 slightly.  The T110E4 is another tier ten American tank destroyer.  The difference between the two models is that the E4 has a decreased armor value for its front for gaining a turret that can turn 90 degrees to each side.  Along with having a turret, the reload time is slightly longer by a second or two.  Currently, I am working on the tier nine T30 and need about 150,000 more experience which I'll likely finish getting by the end of the event.  It's only day two of fourteen for the event and I am about 1/5 of the way done.  Once I complete the last mission, the tier six, hard-hitting SU100Y will be added to my garage.  I'll post more on these other tanks in some posts in the near future.  Also, I hope to add in more videos of actual game play to show some action compared to a bunch of pictures all the time.  Until then, enjoy these T110E4s along with the colder weather.

Lemming Train

In higher tier games, you will come across teams that do not know how to function as a team and frequently lose the game over and over again.  The main problem is that the majority of a team will follow a lead tank either leaving the one side of a map open or the entire team to their deaths.  This phenomenon is called the lemming train.  View the lemming train in action in the following video:

You'll encounter this in all different tier games.  Even in tier ten where you would think players would know how to play by now.

The Jagdtiger which our protagonist pilots:

That one Bounced!

So, after playing my tier two T18 and some of the tier three tanks like the Pz.Kpfw. 1 Ausf. C.  The Pz.1C is a scout tank that is very fast and maneuverable with a high rate of fire.  It is a very fun tank to play.  However, these tanks are much different from what I have been playing in higher tiers.  It's a whole different game where the life of a tank is short and newer players are numerous.  It feels like the following video:

It's the sad, funny truth for lower tier tanks...

Seek and Destroy

The event for this weekend involves using artillery and/or scouts to seek and destroy your enemies.  Currently, I am working on the FV304 because of the even since the tank is artillery.  The FV304 is not the typical artillery.  It is a small, fast tank that has a short range compared with other artillery which usually have the whole map as their range.  FV304 has a much faster reload time compared with other artillery though.  It shoots two or three times faster depending upon the tank.  This makes it extremely annoying for the enemy because it only has HE rounds which cause critical hits.  I only just researched the tank, so it may take a while to get used to its play-style and also get the crew to be efficient with skills.

Fury

The movie Fury just came out yesterday.  It has been furious in its advertizing on television as well as other areas.  One of those places that it has been advertising is World of Tanks.  They have teamed up to produce an accurate movie that looks very appealing to multiple audiences.  To assist them with advertising with World of Tanks, they have made a premium tank named the "Fury" that is very similar to a M4A3E8 Sherman.  I am not so interested in the premium tank so much; however, the movie looks good enough to go see it in theaters or even own it when it comes out.

ABC news actually did an article on their team-up that can be found at the following link:

World of tanks even updated the garage to look like this:

Reminisce

Lately, I have been playing the T110E3 constantly to complete the on track mission.  Today, I completed the mission after earning 250,000 exp playing the tank line.  As a reward, I got a garage slot along with the SU-85I to occupy the slot which is a premium tank.  While playing the T110E3, it felt almost like playing in tier two again.  In particular, it felt like playing my favorite tier 2, the T18.  The T18 has incredible frontal armor for other vehicles of its tier, similar to the E3.  I might just need to play tier two again sometime soon.  Check out the T18 below along with the results of an amazing game I played earlier today.

See you on the Battlefield.

First Tier X

Finally got my first tier ten tank, the T110E3.  So far, it is amazing.  It has the armor of the T95 with a much better speed and reload time.  The crew is not as good yet, but they will get there.  It's going to be my only tier ten for a while because it has drained all the credits that were available to me currently.  Thanks to the on track event, play the T110E3 is actually gaining me money most matches provided I stay alive.  Normally though, tier ten does not make back as much money as they put out on the battlefield, so it may not see play for a while after the event.  Check it out in my garage.

See you on the battlefield!

Rally Mode

Until Oct. 12, there has been a new mode added to the game that is similar to a race.  Unfortunately, I am too busy doing the on track event for the T110E3.  Speaking of which, progress is going well, but slow.  Below is a screen shot of one of the games that went quite well.  Check out rally mode if you can.  It looks quite fun.  Here is the video of the trailer:

 Now, doesn't that look fun?

On Track to the T110E3

This event, which lasts till the end of next week, is what I have been working on and is what will help me unlock my first tier X thank, the T110E3.  Currently I have the tier nine T95 which goes by the nickname of the DOOM Turtle.  The T95 is a really great tank with thick armor; however, I am really looking forward to the upgrade to the T110E3 with an increase in speed.  Also, the T110E3's weak spots are not as weak as everyone thinks.  Well, time to get back to tanks.  See you on the battlefield.

Art of War Weekend

Currently, I am working on the Type 58 medium tank which is the tier six tank of the Chinese line.  I chose this tank to play currently since there is an event going on for being on track to the 113 which is the tier ten heavy Chinese tank.  This event provides discounts on spending credits on a new tank as well as provides an increase in credit production from tanks included in the on track event.  There is also another event that provides 2000 additional experience upon completion for playing a medium tank.

However, that's not all.   The Art of War Weekend has several events that provide additional benefits for playing Chinese tanks.  The significant event is earning x2 crew experience in each battle.  Usually, it is only possible to earn x2 for the first win.  Unfortunately, I am unable to take advantage of this event to the fullest this weekend.

9.3 Update

Yesterday, Update 9.3 went live and brought with it quite a bit of change to the game.  The most significant change to the game is the addition of several light tanks.  The new tanks added are the T37, M41 Walker Bulldog, T49, LTTB, T-54 lightweight, and the Spahpanzer RU-251.  Along with these new additions, some existing tanks had some changes done to make them more balanced.  The tank that was changed around the most was the KV-1S, which is now moved down to tier five with lesser upgrades and the KV-85 takes its place with changes to the gun and speed of the tank.  A few other things that this update changes is that one map has been remastered as well as adding better graphics when interacting with objects and the addition of more HD Tanks.

The official update video can be found at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uW7LKlYkmo
